Mike: In this week's episode of Ottawa County News, we'll learn how many people voted for and Against Recreational Marijuana use in the county compared to others in Oklahoma, Then we’ll learn who and what is on April’s ballot. SQ 820 Fails Mike: Tuesday March 7th Oklahoma voters had an opportunity to legalize recreational marijuana. (Graphic) -Over 25% of Oklahoma voters showed up to the polls

-38% voted “Yes”, 62% voted “No”

-In Ottawa county 20 % of Ottawa county’s 17,353 voters showed up.

-Close to 33% voted “Yes” and 68% voted “No”


The closest race was Oklahoma County, 70% of voters turned out and legalization failed by 242 votes Sources: https://results.okelections.us/OKER/?elecDate=20230307

Upcoming Elections in Ottawa County (Camera) Mike: Tuesday April 4th Ottawa County voters will have another chance to visit the polls,


(Graphic) In Afton, Cindy Todd, William h. Jones, Carol Lynn Turner, Michael H. Nelson, Kristina Mcchurin and

Franklin Betz are vying for Board of Trustees.


Bobbi Jo Baumann and Regina L. Crawford are vying for Town Clerk


Voters will also vote on Proposition One,

And Proposition Two

In Commerce, voters in Ward 3 will decide between Sandra Sue Ross or Walt Maris.


(Graphic) In Miami we have two elections; Incumbent Bless Parker or Robert C. Ferguson for Mayor and Jamie Williams or Mark Zordel for Miami Board of Education Office Number 3.


(Graphic) In Quapaw, voters will choose Mickey Johnson or Tim Lovell for Board of Trustee and John V. Jennings of Dennis Shane King for Board of Education.

Mike: Again, voting is on April 4th and polls are opened from 7am to 7pm.
